Punjab is a state in north-west India that forms a part of the greater Punjab region. The other part of it is in Pakistan. Despite being the smallest state in the country, Punjab is ahead in prosperity. The word Punjab is derived from two Persian words 'Panj Aab' which means 'Water'. Punjab is known for the land of five rivers and the astonishing diversity of its cuisine, history and culture. The dazzling green fertile farming land, the shimmering water, the different shades of blue in the sky make you feel a never ending live experience.

Punjab or Panchal, a beautiful state with lush green fields, has been rightly named – the smiling soul of India. 1). Golden Temple

The Golden Temple is also called Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib. Due to the beautiful surroundings and the layer of gold around it, it is called the Golden Temple. It is considered to be the holiest temple of Sikhs located in Amritsar (Punjab). This temple reflects the message of tolerance and acceptance of Sikhism through its architecture, which also includes symbols from other religions. Harmandir Sahib is situated on a rectangular platform surrounded by the water of Amrit Sarovar. The city has got the name Amritsar after the name of this lake.

The architecture of Harmandir Sahib is a mixture of Hindu and Muslim styles. It is a two storeyed structure of marble. Harmandir Sahib can be reached through Guru's bridge. The upper floor of this temple is covered with gold. It has a golden dome as a crown. The golden dome is an inverted lotus shaped structure.

9). Dera Baba Nanak

Dera Baba Nanak is located 35 km west of Gurdaspur in Punjab. It is situated on the left bank of river Ravi. The great Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the last 12 years of his life here. For this reason it is known as Dera Baba Nanak. This place has been the residence of Guru Nanak. He used to meditate on the banks of the river. Today a beautiful Gurudwara stands in his memory at this place. ,

The seventh Sikh Guru, Guru Har Rai and the eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Kishan Dev Ji were born and grew up here. Even the first Guru, Guru Nanak, is said to have visited this place during his lifetime. The place is also known for the memories of the famous Muslim saint Pir Buddan Shah, who spent a long time here.
